Brandenburg
The Federal States of Germany
The federal state of Brandenburg is located in eastern Germany and encloses the federal capital Berlin in its centre. Brandenburg is one of the five new federal states and not only the largest of them but also the federal state with the most inland waters. The current state capital Potsdam used to be residence and garrison town of Prussian kings. Its historical and art-historical significance is acknowledged today as a UNESCO world heritage site. The federal state of Brandenburg plays a major part for local recreation in the capital region Berlin-Brandenburg, but chances of economic growth are quite limited in spite of the highly attractive city of Berlin.
