The federal state of Saxony lies in the southeast of the Federal Republic of Germany. Besides an overview of the state, this DVD offers a detailed description of the character and history of Saxony’s natural landscapes. One focus of the film is the chapter on the eventful history of this state, which renders the DVD suitable not only for geography lessons but also for history lessons. Besides natural resources and the industry, the chapter on Saxony’s economy discusses the cities of Dresden, Leipzig and Chemnitz in terms of their sights as well as their structure and regional economy. We gain interesting insights into the valuable earthenware and are also shown the exquisite further development of the "white gold". Today this versatile material is irreplaceable in industry, too. Whether in space or as an easily compatible substitute in medicine, ceramic is applied in many places.

Today, the use of new media has become a matter of course not only in everyday life – schools and teaching, too, benefit from the new technologies and methods, which support active and independent learning. Especially in computer science, ethics and language courses but also in all other subjects, modern media are a valuable pedagogic and didactic asset.
